Ernst Borkowsky

Ernst Otto Borkowsky (born February 28, 1860 in Burg ; † January 28, 1947 ) was a German educator , historian and literary scholar .

Ernst Borkowsky was born as the son of the businessman Samuel Borkowski and his wife Emilie born. Born salvation. He attended high school in Burg and studied history and German at the universities of Leipzig and Berlin . In 1879/1880 he became a member of the Leipzig fraternity of Dresdensia . In 1886 he was with the work The English mediation in 1745 after studying at the Royal State Archives to Hannover in Leipzig doctorate . From 1886 he worked in Quedlinburg and Magdeburg , in 1888 he came to Naumburg . There he was a teacher at the Realprogymnasium and at the cadet school . From 1901 to 1904 he was a teacher at the Prussian Hauptkadettenanstalt in Groß-Lichterfelde near Berlin and then until 1925 director of the Luisen Oberlyzeum in Naumburg.

Ernst Borkowsky wrote writings on historical, literary and cultural topics. In particular, he wrote about the Bach family of musicians , German Romanticism and the history of the city of Naumburg. With his book Our Holy War , he stood out for his supportive attitude towards war.
