Ernst Friedrich Count Finck von Finckenstein zu Schönberg (born September 16, 1698 , † July 25, 1753 in Schönberg ) was a Prussian budget minister and Oberburggraf.

Life

Origin and family

Ernst Friedrich was a member of the East Prussian Count Finck von Finckenstein . His parents were the hereditary governor of Deutsch-Eylau and Schönberg, Albrecht Christoph Reichsgraf Finck von Finckenstein (1662–1730) and Arnolda Charlotte, née von Kreytzen (1673–1749). Katharina Dorothea Countess von Schlieben (1700–1728), ancestor of the Danish royal family, was his sister. He himself married Luise Eleonore von Dönhoff (1712–1763) in Berlin in 1727 . Several daughters and sons emerged from the marriage.

Career

In 1730 Finckenstein inherited his father's property in Schönberg. He acted as prorector of the Freyen Society in Königsberg, founded in 1743 . As the successor to Johann Dietrich von Kunheim (1684–1752), he became the real budget minister of the East Prussian government in June 1752 with the title of Oberburggraf in Prussia and at the same time led the presidium of the pupil college as well as the poor and school system. From 1753 he was president of the Königsberg pupil college, also director of academic affairs and curator of the Albertina . His successor in office was Jakob Friedrich von Rohd (1703–1784).

Finckenstein was a knight of the Order of St. John and heir to Schönberg, Sommerau and Herzogswalde .
