Ernst Hartmann (doctor)

Ernst Hartmann (born November 10, 1915 in Mannheim , † October 23, 1992 in Waldkatzenbach, district of Waldbrunn (Odenwald) ) was a German doctor , author and publicist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Ernst Hartmann studied medicine in Mannheim and Jena . During the Second World War he worked as a medical officer and was captured by the Americans. After his return from captivity, he opened a practice in Eberbach am Neckar, where he worked as a general practitioner for more than 40 years. In the 1960s he was involved in the German Peace Union , for which he ran unsuccessfully in the 1961 federal election on the Baden-Württemberg state list.

In addition to his work as a doctor, Ernst Hartmann worked with his brother Robert on geobiology and radiesthesia from 1948 onwards . He also dealt with homeopathy and later with building biology . The research group for geobiology (Dr. Hartmann eV) goes back to him.

As a student, Hartmann wrote down information about patients and evaluated them. He observed that some hospital beds appeared to have a higher mortality rate than others. Hartmann was convinced that the cause was to be found in the location of the beds. Later, as a practicing doctor, he suspected that there was a connection between the disease and the patient's immediate surroundings in patients who had not responded to tried and tested treatment methods.

Hartmann, who had dealt intensively with so-called radiesthesia since 1948 , suspected a cause called earth rays . As a result, these assumptions also served Hartmann as a basis for treatments.

Together with his brother, he designed the model of a so-called global grid, which is formed from 'stimulus bands' in north-south and east-west directions ( Hartmann grid ).

Together with the pharmacist Derschum, Hartmann created the so-called Polyxan preparations in 1952 , which are used in naturopathy and alternative medicine as homeopathic remedies to intentionally influence the autonomic nervous system . The preparations are based on homeopathically processed grasses that are planted in suspected 'geopathological stimulus zones'.

In 1954 Hartmann introduced the term geopathy in geobiology and radiesthesia. Hartmann understood geopathic factors to be pathogenic factors that are supposed to emanate from so-called “geopathogenic zones” such as underground water veins or faults . He also coined the term “ change of location reaction” , which he used to describe a change in the patient's state of mind caused by a change of location. In addition, he calculated, for example, symptom relief in illnesses if the sleeping place was moved to another location.

In 1986, with the support of Veronica Carstens , Hartmann succeeded in having the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to conduct scientific research into the phenomenon of the divining rod . Hartmann and a team from his research group took part in the experiments as test subjects. See also section Assessment in the article dowsing rod.

Scientific criticism

Hartmann's work is mainly devoted to subject areas that are not recognized in the natural sciences and, insofar as they make scientific claims, are assigned to the para- and pseudosciences . Earth rays and their presumed effects could not be scientifically proven despite detailed investigations; the mechanism of action of the Polyxan preparations assumed by Hartmann is scientifically implausible.
