Ernst Hermann Arndt

Ernst Hermann Arndt (born September 6, 1807 in Dresden ; † March 11, 1889 ibid) was a German architect and Saxon building clerk who had taught as an associate professor at the Dresden building trade school since 1862 and was a building commissioner and member of the examination committee for building tradesmen.

Live and act

Arndt attended the construction school of the Dresden Art Academy from 1825 to 1829 . He later participated in the technical advice and drafting of the Fire Insurance Act, after which he was fire insurance commissioner for two years. This was followed by two years as a teacher at the Royal Building School in Dresden, in Gottfried Semper's studio , and as a compulsory assistant at the Royal Land Building Office in Dresden. From 1837 he worked as a teacher at the building trade school, while at the same time he was active as an official of the government authority in church and school building matters.

Arndt lived in 1868 at what was then Johannisstrasse 10 in Dresden, the house was registered as the owner of his wife Caroline. Towards the end of his life, in 1889, he lived as the house owner at Kaitzerstraße 22. He was awarded the Knight's Cross First Class of the Saxon Order of Albrecht .
