Ernst Lucht (master builder)

Ernst Lucht (born December 23, 1871 in Kolberg , † April 16, 1934 in Greifswald ) was a German architect and Prussian building officer .

Life

Lucht was born as the son of a mechanical engineer in Kolberg . It attended the cathedral and secondary school in Kolberg , which he graduated from high school in 1891. He then studied architecture and building sciences at the Technical University of Charlottenburg . During his studies he became a member of the Academic Association Motiv . After the subsequent legal clerkship , Lucht was appointed government builder ( assessor ) in 1900 and sent to Kassel .

In 1904 he was transferred to the University of Greifswald . As an academic master builder, Lucht was head of the university building authority for 30 years. The following university buildings were built under his direction:

  • the Chemical Institute
  • the mental hospital
  • the children's clinic
  • the infant home at the children's clinic
  • the infection ward of the medical clinic
  • the dermatology clinic
  • the university gymnasium.

Lucht advised on the construction of the city theater, the city ​​hall and the city's sports field.

In 1904 he was awarded the Prussian Order of the Crown, IV class . In 1910 he received an honorary doctorate from the Medical Faculty of the University of Greifswald. In 1925 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Greifswald. In 1913 he was awarded the title of building councilor , in 1929 that of government building councilor . In 1933 he became an honorary senator at the University of Greifswald.

On January 1, 1934, he retired for health reasons. He died in April of the same year and was buried in the Old Cemetery.
