Ernst Schütz (singer)
Ernst Schütz (* 1938 ) is an Austrian opera and operetta singer ( tenor ) and actor .
Life
Schütz received his vocal training at the Graz Conservatory from Dino Halpern. He made his debut in 1962 at the Stadttheater Graz , where he stayed until 1964. Then he went to the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich .
He sang Jacquino in Fidelio , David in the Meistersinger von Nürnberg , Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos and Rodrigo in Othello . In 1966 he came to Vienna . Schütz was primarily an operetta interpreter and was engaged at the Raimund Theater until 1972 . He then made guest appearances from Vienna until the late 1980s at numerous Austrian and German theaters. He sang well-known parts from works by Franz Lehár , Emmerich Kálmán , Johann Strauss , Carl Millöcker and other operetta composers.
Schütz also worked in several television and film productions. In 1972 he was the leading actor in Franz Antel's film comedy Out of Edge and Band at Lake Wolfgang .
