Erseka ( Albanian also Ersekë ; Greek Ερσέκα Erséka ) is a small town in southeastern Albania with 3746 inhabitants (2011). Local sources indicate a significantly higher population of almost 10,000 people. The place is located at around 1020 m above sea level. A. in a plateau that stretches between the slopes of Mount Gramoz ( 2520 m above sea level ) in the east and the valley of the Osum River in the west. Erseka is the seat of the Kolonja municipality .

For the Ottoman period Erseka was a small market town. During the communist rule, food and alcohol production facilities and local administration were established, so that Erseka developed into the local center. Until 2015 Erseka was an independent municipality ( bashkia ) , which was then merged with the other municipalities of Kolonja County .

Today there is a museum in Erseka, the Fan Stilian Noli cultural center , a library with around 50,000 books and around 250 service and small-scale businesses. International non-governmental organizations such as the Christian organizations Agrinas and Pishtarmbajtësit Shqipëri ( Torchbearers Albania ) are also represented in the city.

Erseka is very remote on the scenic road from Tepelena via Përmet and Leskovik to Korça , which connects Albania's south-west with the south-east. It is 45 kilometers to Korça.

The local football club KS Gramozi Ersekë played in the 2009/10 season in the top division after him in previously promotion to the second highest league had succeeded. Since 2012 he has been playing in third class again .
