The district of Kolonja ( Albanian Rrethi i Kolonjës ) was one of the 36 administrative districts of Albania that were abolished in the summer of 2015 after an administrative reform. The area with an area of 805 square kilometers in Qark Korça today forms the municipality of Kolonja . The main town was Erseka . In 2011 there were 11,070 inhabitants in Kolonja.
Kolonja is very remote in the mountainous southeast of the country on the Greek border in a triangle between the Osum river , the Gramoz mountain ( Greek : Grammos) and the Vjosa valley in the south.
