The Kurbin district ( Albanian : Rrethi i Kurbinit ) was one of the 36 administrative districts in Albania that were abolished in the summer of 2015 following an administrative reform. The capital of the district was Laç . With an area of 263 square kilometers, it was the third smallest district in Albania. Today the area in the Qark Lezha forms the municipality Kurbin .
Kurbin is located on the shores of the Adriatic around 30 kilometers north of Tirana .
In 2011 there were 46,291 inhabitants in the Kurbin district (census). However, the local authorities gave a number of 73,287 inhabitants (2007).
Kurbin belonged to the Kruja district until the early 1990s . In 1992 it was founded as Laç County. In 1999 the district got its current name. The official abbreviation has since been KB . The abbreviation LA is still used on license plates .
