Ervīns Muštukovs (born April 7, 1984 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League .

Career

Ervins Muštukovs began his career as a hockey player in the Latvian ice hockey league , in which he was active from 1999 to 2003 for the HK Nik's Brih Riga and the Stalkers Daugavpils . The goalkeeper then spent a season with the Canadian junior team Drummondville Voltigeurs from the QMJHL . In the summer of 2004, the junior international returned to Latvia, where he was in the Belarusian extra league and the Latvian ice hockey league for HK Liepājas Metalurgs between the posts for the following two and a half years . With this he became Latvian runner-up in 2006.

After he had started the 2006/07 season at HK Liepājas Metalurgs, Muštukovs moved to the Knoxville Ice Bears from the Southern Professional Hockey League during the season . At the same time he ran for Toledo Storm in the ECHL . In the following season the Latvian was again under contract in Knoxville, as well as with the ECHL team of the Elmira Jackals . For the 2008/09 season he was committed by Dinamo Riga from the newly founded Continental Hockey League . For Dinamo, however, he played only two games in the KHL, while he completed the rest of the season at HK Riga 2000 in the Belarusian extra league .

The following season he spent with Dinamo Juniors Riga , with whom he was Latvian champion before he was committed in May 2010 by the Sheffield Steelers from the British Elite Ice Hockey League . With these he won the EIHL championship in the 2010/11 season, with Muštukovs having a significant share in winning the title and being honored with several individual awards for this. With a catch rate of 92.2 percent, he was the best goalkeeper in the league and set a new league record with ten shutouts . In May 2011 Muštukovs was signed for one year by the Odense Bulldogs from the AL-Bank Ligaen and changed employers annually in the following years. He played for Mora IK in HockeyAllsvenskan , for Esbjerg Energy , where he was elected to the Second All-Star Team of the Metal Ligaen and the best player of his team in 2014, for the Aalborg Pirates also from the Metal Ligaen and Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 from Ligue Magnus , where he was also voted best player on his team. In 2016 he returned to Sheffield and won the Playoffs of the Elite Ice Hockey League with the Steelers in 2017. He himself made a significant contribution to this success with the best catch quota and the second lowest goal against goal behind Ben Bowns .

International

For Latvia , Muštukovs took part in the U18 Junior B World Championships in 2002 , the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2003 and 2004 and the 2010 Winter Olympics.
