Erwin Felzmann
Erwin Felzmann (born April 10, 1937 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer. He was President of the Supreme Court in Austria.
Life
Erwin Felzmann was born on April 10, 1937 in Vienna and attended the Wiener Neustadt teacher training college , where he passed his matriculation examination in 1956 . He then completed a law degree at the University of Vienna , where he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD .
He began his professional career in 1961 as a legal trainee at the district court of Gänserndorf and after passing the judge's examination in 1964, he worked for the district court of Korneuburg and the district court of Gänserndorf.
He did his military service with the Austrian Armed Forces. From 1970 the lawyer was public prosecutor at the public prosecutor's office in Korneuburg and in 1974 he became senior public prosecutor in Vienna and from 1979 deputy head of the authorities (1st senior public prosecutor).
Erwin Felzmann became President of the Vienna Higher Regional Court in 1992 and President of the Supreme Court from 1999. He held this position until his retirement at the end of 2002. Since January 1985 he has also been a substitute member of the Constitutional Court .
In addition to these tasks, he was a board member of the Austrian Legal Commission and the Legal Societies of Lower Austria, Vienna and Burgenland, as well as Vice-President of the Austrian Legal Commission from 2000 and Chairman of the Human Rights Advisory Council from 2003 to 2007 .
On a voluntary basis, he is also involved in sport across the region, especially handball , which he used to do actively. He was regional chairman of the Lower Austria Sport Union for 15 years .

- 2002: Large gold medal on ribbon for services to the Republic of Austria
- 2003: Golden Commander's Cross with the Star of Honor for Services to the State of Lower Austria
- 2003: Badge of Honor from the Austrian Bar Association
