action

Rajiv is the sole heir to a million dollar fortune. However, his mother Rani Maa does not like it when he distributes the family fortune generously. Together with their manager Shyamlal, they want to bring Rajiv under the hood. However, he is anything but enthusiastic and flees to the mountains of Kashmir .

There the family owns a bungalow , where Rajiv enjoys his freedom and becomes aware of the pretty flower seller Champa. The two of them like each other right away and are soon enough to think about getting married, if it weren't for Champa's father Duni, who wants to marry her off to Mohan.

The situation worsens when Rajiv's foster mother Karuna lies on her deathbed, because she reveals a secret that Rajiv was withheld for a lifetime: Rani Maa is not his birth mother. Rajiv is the son of her brother Dinu, who never looked after him. That's why Karuna raised him with Rani Maa, her employer. Rani Maa had a newborn baby girl at the time. One night Dinu kidnaps the girl so that Rajiv becomes the sole heir to Rani Maa's fortune.

Rajiv is shocked by the story and wants to confront Dinu. During their verbal argument, he does not confess to being Champa's father. Champa is the biological daughter of Rani Maas and the actual heiress.

After the whole truth has come to light and the two have found their true parents, they can live happily together.

The film title is borrowed from Lata Mangeshkar's hit song Kashmir ki kali hoon main from the 1961 film Junglee .

Sharmila Tagore made her debut in Hindi films with Kashmir Ki Kali .

criticism

Kapoor has gained some weight and his body movements are less elegant than in his black and white films by Nasir Hussain , but the influence of rock music, exotic locations and the emphasis on the youth culture of the upper class carry on from his earlier films.
