Erwin Trojan

Erwin Trojan (born September 13, 1888 in Karlsbad , Austria-Hungary ; † November 7, 1957 in Altlengbach ) was an Austrian brass music composer.

Life

Erwin Trojan joined the Tyrolean Kaiserjäger in 1902 at the age of 14 . In 1904 he began studying music at the Salzburg Mozarteum , majoring in trumpet . After completing his studies, he returned to Karlovy Vary and played in the local spa orchestra . Until the outbreak of the First World War he was a trumpeter in a band on the Hamburg-America Line . In between he was employed at the Flemish Opera. After the First World War he lived in Innsbruck and founded the railway band. During this time Trojan wrote his most famous march, the Ruetz March . In 1933 Erwin Trojan moved from Innsbruck to Altlengbach. When the Second World War broke out, Erwin Trojan was transferred to Jutland , where he was taken prisoner by the English . On his return he had composed 16 pieces on scrap paper. The compositional oeuvre includes more than 200 works for wind orchestra .
