Erwin Willy Becker also spelled Erwin W. Becker (* August 24, 1920 in Magdeburg ; † May 19, 2011 in Karlsruhe ) was a German physicist and university professor .

Life

A native of Magdeburg Erwin Willy Becker turned to the High School studying physics and chemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich to, took place there in 1943 at the Institute of Physical Chemistry his promotion to Dr. rer. nat. Erwin Willy Becker came following a position as Assistant Professor at the Physics Institute of the University of Marburg in 1949 habilitated himself as a lecturer for the subject of physics.

In 1958, Erwin Willy Becker accepted a full professorship for nuclear process engineering and microstructure engineering at the University of Karlsruhe , a position he held until his retirement in 1988. Erwin Willy Becker also acted as chairman of the board of the Karlsruhe Research Center from 1974 to 1975 . In his retirement he did research in the field of biological chemistry and the aging process.

Erwin Willy Becker, under whose direction the separation nozzle process and the LIGA (manufacturing process) were developed, received the DECHEMA Prize in 1957 and the Heinrich Hertz Prize in 1982.
