Eschenbach is a German rock band founded in 2005 by Ben Tewaag and Philip Eschenbach under the name Ultima Ratio Regis .

history

In 2005 Ben Tewaag and Philip Eschenbach founded the band Ultima Ratio Regis. Eschenbach was previously the guitarist of the Munich rock band Alev . They began to write songs and soon made it into the opening act for the crossover band Dog Eat Dog from New York . During the support tour they met the dog-eat-dog percussionist Nils Berger, who became the band's drummer . They later also played in the opening act for the New York metal band Pro-Pain . Tewaag came into contact with the Frankfurt record label 3R Entertainment , the band sent the company a demo and thus got a record deal.

In 2008 the band was renamed Eschenbach with the line-up Tewaag (vocals), Eschenbach (guitar, bass, electronics) and Berger (drums). They recorded their debut album in Studio23 in Frankfurt am Main , where the band Böhse Onkelz had recorded their records since 1996. The album was produced by Stephan Weidner , whom Tewaag met at an aftershow party in Berlin, and Michael Mainx. During the recording, singer Ben Tewaag had to serve a prison sentence for a fight. Riitchy Schwarz joined the band as a replacement, and Tewaag is featured with two songs on the album. Stephan Weidner, Nina C. Alice and Yen also took part. The album was released in November 2009 and reached number 83 on the German album charts.

In February 2010 Eschenbach went on tour in Germany , the live band included Mark Hofmann (before that V8 Wankers ) and Paul Bart. In December 2011 Eschenbach appeared again as the opening act for Stephan Weidner's Autournomie II tour. On January 27, 2012, the album Alles in Allem was released, which reached number 57 in the German charts.

On November 6th, 2015 the EP Divide et Impera was released. In mid-2016 the change to the label "Laute Helden" was announced and a new album for spring 2017 was announced.
