The aim of the designer Josef Schuchter was to build a ship that can be sailed alone and that sails stably and quickly in both low and high winds. Together with Umberto Felci, he designed the Esse 850 , which is named after the designer ( Esse Italian for S by Schuchter ) and its length (850 cm). The first boat was launched in March 2004.
