Acetic acid decyl ester is found in citrus peel , apples , melons , strawberries , celery and other foods.

Acetic acid decyl ester is a colorless to slightly yellowish liquid that is practically insoluble in water. It has a floral, orange-like smell and a characteristic taste. At high dilution it has a sweet taste with a pineapple-like undertone.

Acetic acid decyl ester is used as an apple, orange and rum flavor . It has been in use since 1930.
