Eugene Theodor Thissen

Eugen Theodor Thissen (born October 31, 1813 in Aachen , † September 27, 1877 in Limburg an der Lahn ) was a Catholic clergyman and politician.

Life

Eugen Theodor Thissen studied Catholic theology , philosophy and law in Bonn from 1832 to 1836 . In 1837 he was ordained a priest. From 1838 to 1842 he was chaplain in Kornelimünster and from 1842 to 1847 teacher in Jülich . From 1847 to 1858 he was pastor and secretary of the Cathedral Building Association in Cologne . Then he was cathedral capitular , city pastor and clergyman chamberlain in Frankfurt am Main . In 1861 he became papal secret chamberlain , in 1868 honorary canon in Limburg and since 1859 an official councilor. 1874 rain of the Limburg seminary until its closure in the Kulturkampf in 1875. In 1848 he was a co-founder of the Rheinische Volkshalle.

From 1852 to 1858 Thissen was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , again from 1870 to 1873 and from 1875 until his death in 1877. In 1867 he was a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Cologne 1 ( Cologne City ). In the north German Reichstag he remained non-attached. 1870–73 and 1875 until his death he was again a member of the House of Representatives.
