Ayhan Gezen (born June 25, 1972 in Istanbul ) is a former German - Turkish soccer player . He achieved his greatest success in 1993 when he surprisingly reached the final of the DFB Cup with the so-called Hertha -Bubis .

Player career

youth

Ayhan Gezen, born in Istanbul in 1972, came to Germany with his family at the age of four. There he played in the youth teams of the Berlin clubs SC Siemensstadt , CFC Hertha 06 and SC Staaken .

Hertha BSC

In 1990 Ayhan Gezen moved to the second team from Hertha BSC , with whom he took 6th place in the Oberliga Berlin in 1990/91 . In the following season , the Hertha amateurs played due to the league reform in the Oberliga Nordost, which they finished in fourth place as the best Berlin representative. In the same season, the Hertha amateurs won the state cup, which was held together with teams from East and West Berlin for the first time, by beating Reinickendorfer Füchse 1-0 in the final . This qualified for the 1992/93 DFB Cup . While the trained electrical system electronics technician was already playing for the first team in the 2nd Bundesliga , Gezen continued to play all games (three goals) for the Hertha-Bubis in the DFB Cup. So it happened that after victories over SGK Heidelberg (3: 0) and VfB Leipzig (4: 2) in the round of 16 on Friday for the amateurs in a 4: 3 win over the defending champion Hannover 96 and the day after that at 0 : 1-From the professionals against Bayer Leverkusen came on after 85 minutes. The Bubis' 2-1 quarter-final success over 1. FC Nürnberg was followed by the semi-finals in the Berlin Olympic Stadium , in which Chemnitzer FC were defeated 2-1. As with the first team, Gezen faced Bayer Leverkusen in the same place in the final. Again they were defeated by a goal from Ulf Kirsten with 0: 1. After the season, Gezen signed a professional contract. However, Gezen couldn't get past players like Sven Demandt , Theo Gries or Frank Schmöller in the first team in the storm , so that he was reamateurised in 1994 after 14 appearances in the second division. In the summer of 1996 Ayhan Gezen then left the second team from Hertha BSC.

Further career

After Gezen was unemployed for some time, he moved to FC Berlin in autumn 1996 , with whom he always occupied a midfield position in the third-rate regional league . In the club, which has since been renamed BFC Dynamo , Gezen reached the final of the Paul Rusch Cup in 1999 . There Dynamo won against Türkspor Berlin 4-1, with Gezen taking the 1-0 lead.

Ayhan Gezen then moved to Rot-Weiß Erfurt . With the Thuringians Gezen took 7th place in the regional league season 1999/2000 . Due to the regional league reform, RWE had to play two games in the relegation to remain in the regional league against FC Schönberg 95 . Despite the 0: 1 defeat in the first leg, Erfurt was able to secure relegation with a 4: 1 in the home Steigerwald Stadium.

After that season, Gezen returned to BFC Dynamo for a year. In the Oberliga Nordost he won the North Season with his club, but failed in the promotion relegation after two games at 1. FC Magdeburg .

After the end of the season, Ayhan Gezen moved to SV Altlüdersdorf while studying business administration at the same time . Gezen played with the SVA in the fifth-rate Brandenburg Association League , in which he scored eleven goals in the 2002/03 season alone.

In the summer of 2004 Gezen turned his back on Altlüdersdorf and signed a contract with Spandauer SV . With the Spandauer he reached 9th place in the Association League. Also in the 2005/06 season with 8th place a place in the middle of the league was occupied. Subsequently, Ahyan Gezen ended his career as a football player in the summer of 2006.
