Gene Dynarski

Eugene Fredrick Dynarski (born September 13, 1933 in Brooklyn , New York City , † February 27, 2020 in Studio City , Los Angeles ) was an American actor .

Life

Gene Dynarski worked in a variety of jobs and served in the United States Navy before moving to Los Angeles to become an actor. Through the casting director Lynn Stalmaster , he was able to establish himself as a supporting and guest actor in various television series from the mid-1960s. So he starred in television series like Batman , Cobra, Take Over and Bonanza .

He became known to a larger audience through his appearance on the sitcom Seinfeld . There he played in 1997 as Izzy Mandelbaum Jr. in two episodes, the son of Izzy Mandelbaum, played by Lloyd Bridges . In Star Trek, he worked in three different roles in Starship Enterprise and Starship Enterprise - The Next Century .

With The Gene Dynarski Theater , he founded his own theater in Los Angeles in 1979 . The first play he performed was Sweet Bird Youth by Tennessee Williams with Ed Harris in the lead role. Hollywood greats like Tom Hanks and Elisabeth Shue also performed there. The theater itself closed in the mid-1990s. For one of his performances, he was awarded the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Actor.

On February 27, 2020, Dynarski died at the Studio City Rehabilitation Center at the age of 86. His death himself was only announced in the media by the playwright Ernest Kearney on April 24, 2020.
