Eugenia León (born June 7, 1956 in Tlanepantla ) is a Mexican singer and actress.

León attended the Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades de Naucalpan and studied from the age of eighteen at the Escuela Nacional de Música of the Universidad Autónoma de México . With her sister she founded the group Víctor Jara , which was dedicated to Latin American folk music, and later joined Naldo Labrín's group Sanampay . She separated from this in 1982 to begin a solo career.

In 1983 she released her first album Así te quiero and toured Mexico with a small band. With Marcial Alejandro's song El Fandango Aquí , she represented Mexico at the OTI International Festival in Seville and thus won first prize. On more than 20 albums she sang compositions by Fito Páez , David Haro , Guillermo Briseño , Joan Manuel Serrat , Marcial Alejandro, Armando Manzanero , José Alfredo Jiménez , Francisco Gabilondo Soler , Liliana Felipe and María Grever, among others . Her musical partners included Pablo Milanés and Ramón Vargas , with whom she recorded the album Corazón mexicano .

In 2003 she took over the moderation of the program Acústico on channel 22 of the station Mexico City. There were musicians like Daniela Romo , José Feliciano , Lila Downs , Regina Orozco , Susana Zabaleta , Chavela Vargas Pablo Milanés , Marco Antonio Muñiz , Sin Bandera , José Feliciano, Gilberto Santa Rosa , Armando Manzanero , Ramón Vargas , Tania Libertad , Guadalupe Pineda and Amaury Pérez as guest. To mark her 20th anniversary as a singer, she gave a concert with the Orquesta Sinfónica de las Américas in the Auditorio Nacional in 2003 .

In 2008 she took part alongside Vikki Carr , Alberto Angel and Los Camperos de Nati Cano in a PBS special on Mexican music entitled Fiesta Mexicana . In the same year she made her debut alongside Ana Claudia Talancón , Daniel Giménez Cacho and José María de Tavira in the film Arráncame la vida based on a novel by Àngeles Mastreta in the role of Toña la Negra as an actress. With the album Las Tres Grandes (with Tania Libertad and Guadelupe Pineda) she won a gold record in 2016 . The CD with DVD was nominated for a Latin Grammy .
