extended variant

The Type A is a coaster type of Sietas in Neuenfelde , 1957 eight ships were built by a year.

history

The Astarte in 1958

The coaster type was ordered by various shipping companies. The type designation is derived from the first letter of the Astarte , which was the first ship of the series to be ordered. She ran on August 3, 1957 by the stack and was delivered on 10 September 1957th The type A ships were initially mainly used for small and medium-sized voyages . Later they were used worldwide in coastal travel , mostly in a converted condition and without loading gear .

technology

The type A was based on the type HG built in 1955 . Due to the largely unobstructed shape of the two holds with little under- stowage, the type of ship was also suitable for transporting cellulose or wood parcels, among other things. It had a double floor with a flat tank ceiling throughout. As standard, the ships had three loading booms with a load capacity of two tons each. Simple wooden hatch covers with a sea-proof tarpaulin cover were used. The ships were powered by a four-stroke diesel engine from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD), which acted on a fixed propeller. The engines had an output of 500 hp, but were mostly throttled to 300 hp.

At the Sietas shipyard, the Elfi Breuer (in 1960), the Jürgen Wehr (1961), the Martha Friesecke (1961), the Astarte (1964) and the Bewa (1964) were lengthened by 7.70 meters. As a result, these ships were re- measured at 499 GRT .
