The 817 m high Eulenberg lies on the border between the municipality of Schönsee in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf Bavaria , the municipality of Eslarn in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab and the area of the Czech municipality of Bělá nad Radbuzou . Its summit is in the area of the Eslarn market, while the Eulenberg wasteland near the summit on its southwest slope belongs to Schönsee. The Eulenberg belongs to the Reichenstein massif, which continues from the Reichenstein over the Weingartnerfels on the Czech side into the Plattenberg heights and then ends again on the German side in the Eulenberg.
The Eulenberg has marked the border between Eslarn, Schönsee and Bohemia since ancient times . A report on the border markings from 1361 in which Charles IV and the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg certified: "The first one they noticed was three beeches with three crosses under the Eylenberg near the Bohemian border on Dietersdorfer Feld and the same Rain should come across Eslarner Feld ... "The Eulenberg is also mentioned in a border description from 1777.
Geotope
The summit of the Eulenberg has been designated as a geotope (geotope number: 374R029) and natural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment .
