Eurovision 2017: You Decide was the British preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev ( Ukraine ).

format

concept

After the British broadcaster BBC had been selecting its contributions for the ESC internally since 2011, it was decided in 2016 to hold another national preliminary round, which had the same name as the following year. The UK held preliminary rounds on a regular basis from 2000 to 2010 under different names such as: B. Eurovision: Your Country Needs You or A Song For Europe. However, Joe & Jake only made it to place 24 out of 26 in the final for the winners of the 2016 preliminary decision . However, also due to the newly introduced voting procedure, the country received significantly more points than in previous years (64 points).

Changes to the format and voting process were announced for 2017. From now on, a professional jury consisting of eight members should be entitled to vote and judge the contributions. 50% of the result is made up of the jury voting and the other 50% through the televoting (viewer result via telephone and SMS).

Attendees

On January 23, 2017, the BBC published the total of six candidates and their contributions that will take part in the preliminary round. All contributions were in English.

Half of the winner was determined by jury and televoting. Three of the eight jury members were continuously present and commented on the performances
