Eva Bakos

Eva Bakos (born August 26, 1929 in Vienna ; † November 21, 2003 ibid) was an Austrian cultural journalist and writer of novels , short stories and travel guides .

Life

Eva Bakos gained her first journalistic experience at ORF and various newspapers, while studying German , English and newspaper studies. From 1958 to 1961 she was initially employed at Ullstein Verlag , after which she worked for ten years as an editor at the Vienna daily Express and from 1971 to 1989 as editor-in-chief of the Austrian edition of the women's magazine Brigitte .

She wrote several books, including Widow à la carte , Die Villa im Veneto and Wilde Wienerinnen . The story Heirate nur keine Wienerin was made into a film for television in 1977 (main roles: Louise Martini and Heinz Reincke , directed by Otto Anton Eder ; first broadcast on ORF on October 2, 1977). She also wrote the script for the ORF television series Die liebe Familie , numerous gastronomic reviews and travel guides from Italy and Lower Austria . In 1991 she was awarded the Golden Medal of Merit of the State of Vienna .

Eva Bakos lived in Vienna and at Drosendorf Castle . She was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
