Eva Kurfürstová (born August 30, 1977 in Karviná ) is a former Czech ski racer . She specialized in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

biography

Kurfürstová's first major international events were the Junior World Championships from 1994 to 1996. The best results she achieved was second 17th in the slaloms in 1994 and 1996 and eleventh in the 1994 combined ranking. In the European Cup , she came in ninth on December 13, 1996 for the first time in the giant slalom of Sankt Sebastian among the top ten and two years later in the slalom of Špindlerův Mlýn among the top five for the first time. She celebrated her first and so far only European Cup victory on January 5, 2006 in the slalom in Lenzerheide . The next day she came in second in the second slalom behind Norwegian Nina Løseth . With another four top 10 results, she reached fourth place in the overall slalom classification in the 2005/06 season and thus by far her best result in a European Cup discipline.

The Czech competed in the World Cup for the first time in January 1995. However, it took over ten years until she won her first World Cup points on December 21, 2005 in her 54th World Cup race, the giant slalom in Špindlerův Mlýn, with 28th place. In the 2005/06 season these were her only points and to this day they are the only ones she won in a World Cup giant slalom. The only World Cup points in the following season 2006/07 she got 21st place in the slalom of Aspen . In the 2007/08 season Kurfürstová came in four World Cup slaloms in the points. Her best World Cup result so far was 20th place in the slalom in Aspen on December 9, 2007. In the following years she was again without World Cup points.

Since 1996 Kurfürstová has competed in at least one discipline at every world championship . In her total of 13 starts she was classified in 6 races. Her best result was 18th place in the slalom at the 2001 World Championships in St. Anton am Arlberg . In 2002 and 2006 she also took part in the Winter Olympics. In 2002 in Salt Lake City she was the best Czech in slalom and 23rd in giant slalom and in 2006 in Turin she came 28th in slalom.

At the end of the 2013/14 season, she resigned from top-class sport.
