Eva Wittke (born July 18, 1951 in Freital ), married Eva Herbst , is a former German swimmer. It started in 1968 for the German Democratic Republic at the Summer Olympics . During her active time she started for the SC DHfK Leipzig .

Career

She was nominated by the National Olympic Committee of the GDR for the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and started there both in the 4 x 100 meter medley relay and in the 400 meter medley. In the 400-meter individual medley competition, she failed in the preliminary stages. With her teammate Martina Grunert and the two swimmers from SC Karl-Marx-Stadt Helga Lindner and Uta Schmuck , she formed the 4 x 100 meter relay of the German Democratic Republic. In the final, the season was the fifth to miss a medal.

A year later, together with Barbara Hofmeister , Helga Lindner and Gabriele Wetzko , she set a new European record in the 4 x 100 meter medley relay in 4: 34.8 minutes on August 23, 1969 in Budapest , the one GDR -Season already improved on April 15, 1970 with a different line-up.

After her active career, she worked as a trainer in Leipzig . In addition to her two children Sabine and Stefan, she also trained the open water swimmer Toni Franz .

family

She married the German swimmer Jochen Herbst , who also took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics for the GDR. Both her daughter Sabine Herbst and her son Stefan Herbst are also swimmers and took part in the Olympic Games. Her grandson Ramon Klenz , Sabine's son, is also a swimmer.
