Evan Lurie
Evan Lurie (born September 28, 1954 in Minneapolis ) is an American fusion musician ( piano , also keyboards ) and film composer .
Live and act
Lurie, who enjoyed a classical piano training, was initially in the shadow of his brother John Lurie . Since it was founded in 1979, it has belonged to the Lounge Lizards , but there was more of a marginal figure. In 1987 he surprised everyone with his album Pieces for Bandoneon , which contained tangos for an acoustic ensemble. In 1990 he released the solo piano album Happy? Here? Now? , which was hardly noticed. In contrast, the work Selling Water by the Side of the River Lurie identified as a "highly independent composer" ( Wolf Kampmann ). He wrote the score for several low-budget films by Fisher Stevens or Steve Buscemi , which he presented in the compilation How I Spent My Vacation . Since the late 1980s he has written the soundtracks for several Roberto Benigni films . He composed the music for television series such as Oswald (2001) or The Backyardigans (2004–2007). He also worked as a pianist and arranger for Ute Lemper .
