history

In 1900 a bell tower was built , but it was demolished again in 1926 and the stones of which were used for the construction of today's church. The church was built between 1926 and 1930 according to plans by the architect Stadtbaurat a. D. Julius Ammer ( Saarbrücken ). Previously, the government architect Heinrich Biel had given an expert opinion on the preliminary design of the new church building. After the construction work began, the chief government builder, Rudolf Krüger, was in charge of construction management.

Between 1960 and 1970 the church underwent restoration work. Another restoration was carried out in 2003.

Architecture and equipment

The church building with its high tower, located on a slope above Talstrasse, characterizes the townscape. The building complex of the church also includes a rectory , which is attached to the north of the church at a right angle, as well as a parish hall below the church. A wide staircase leads up to the church, which is entered through a pointed arch arcade . Pointed arches as sound openings in the bell storey are also a striking feature of the church tower. In addition, there are elongated window openings in the tower facade, which also contribute to the striking appearance of the tower.

Inside the church, the three windows in the choir are striking . They were designed in 1953 by the Hungarian-German architect and church window painter György Lehoczky (Saarbrücken). " Jesus birth " with " Sermon on the Mount ", " Resurrection of Christ " and " Crucifixion " with "Jesus heals" are shown. In 2003 the windows were restored.
