Evangelical Church Volmarstein
The village church of Volmarstein is a listed church building in the center of Volmarstein , a district of Wetter (Ruhr) in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Protestant parish church is located below the castle ruins of Volmarstein and is listed as architectural monument no. 64 in the monument list of Wetter .
History and architecture
The church was originally dedicated to St. Bartholomew . 1564 Volmarsteiner joined congregation of the Reformation of Martin Luther in and has been Protestant.
The building made of Ruhr sandstone is a simple, rectangular hall with a wooden ceiling. A vaulted , Gothic sacristy is attached to the south side of the essentially Romanesque building . The central nave dates from the 12th century. The west tower is marked 1752. The last renovation was made in 1996.
Furnishing
An altarpiece from 1678 depicts the Last Judgment . The font was created in 1786.
organ
The altar organ was built by Gerhard von Holy from 1732 to 1734 . In 1819 a pedal was added, and a second manual and an independent pedal by Carl Herbst were added in 1863–1864 . In the course of a renovation by Paul Ott , the instrument was expanded and received a new action , new wind chests and a new wind system . 70% of the historical pipe material has been preserved in a modified form, a reconstruction in line with monument requirements has not yet taken place. Bells
The village church has a total of four bells. A three-part cast steel bell calls for prayer and worship. It is tuned to the Te Deum motif h ° -d'-e '.
There is also a bronze bell that shows the time every half hour.
