Everett Riskin
Everett Riskin (born May 8, 1895 in New York City , New York , † March 27, 1982 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film producer , who at the Academy Awards in 1942 as the producer of Vacation From Heaven for the Oscar for best film was nominated.
Life
Riskin began his career as a film producer in the Hollywood film industry in 1934 in the horror film Black Moon by Roy William Neill with Jack Holt , Fay Wray , who later married his younger brother Robert Riskin , and Dorothy Burgess in the leading roles.
At the Academy Awards in 1942 he was nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture as producer of the comedy Vacation From Heaven ( Here Comes Mr. Jordan , 1941) by Alexander Hall with Robert Montgomery , Evelyn Keyes and Claude Rains , but lost to that of Darryl F. Zanuck produced the feature film Schlagende Wetter (1941).
In the course of his career, which lasted until 1952, Riskin produced a total of 22 films for Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, among others , including well-known films such as The Awful Truth ( The Awful Truth , 1937) by Leo McCarey , The Bride's Sister ( Holiday , 1938 ) by George Cukor and The thin man Goes Home ( The thin man Goes Home , 1945) by Richard Thorpe .
