Evil Cavies is a ska-punk combo from Friedberg (Hessen) .
The group is assigned to Ska and Punk , as the normal punk band line-up is reinforced by an organ and a brass section.
history
The Evil Cavies were founded by Philipp Waas ( trumpet ), Matze Stede ( trumpet ), Gregor Brundke ( drums ), Jerome Johnson (at that time still bass ) and Tobias Wagner ( organ ), because the winds were interested in bringing their instruments into something other than one Music train . They agreed on the role models Reel Big Fish and Mad Caddies , with whom all founding members could identify.
The first album was released on July 27, 2006 after a first demo CD found decent sales at concerts. The album is titled There must be a need for me , which, according to the band, could be roughly translated as “ we have to be good at something, so we make music ”. It was completely self-financed and organized by the band and contains 9 own songs.
The band received the greatest award for their live quality up to then when they won the final of the Hessian edition of the nationwide newcomer contest "Local Heroes" after winning a preliminary decision in September 2006.
In 2006 and 2007 the Evil Cavies were able to play many live performances, including at well-known festivals such as the Traffic Jam Open Air (Dieburg), the Soundgarden Festival (Friedberg, Hesse) and the Trebur Open Air .
On April 18, 2008, the second album was released with the title My Favorite Jetlag . In the summer of the same year, the Evil Cavies played alongside reggae greats such as Gentleman and Shaggy at the Africa-Caribbean Festival in Aschaffenburg, at the Soundgarden Festival in Friedberg and at the Nonstock Festival in Fischbachtal. This appearance was documented by RTL-Hessen.
In 2010 the Evil Cavies played at the Schlossgrabenfest and the Open Flair together with bands such as Mad Caddies , Ska-P , Bad Religion and Jan Delay . The culmination of the year and the band's history so far was the award as "Best Skaband 2010" at the German Rock and Pop Prize in Wiesbaden.
The Evil Cavies have been playing at the Sparkling Vibes Festival in Usa-Wellenbad , Bad Nauheim, every year since 2012 .
The band released their third album Fools On Primetime on May 18, 2012.
