Fists - beans and ... karate! (Original title: Storia di karatè, pugni e fagioli ) is a comedic spaghetti western with elements of the martial arts film , which was shot in 1973 under the direction of Tonino Ricci . German premiere was on October 19, 1973.

action

Sam and Buddy Piccolo, two drifters, go to a monastery in search of some food, where they are involved in the hunt for Colonel Randolf Quint, who stole the golden hand of Saint Quirin because he was able to sneak in there as a guard . However, they become his partners when they discover that he is working for the banker Morgan to track down his daughter, who was kidnapped by Espartero and his gang. The golden hand should serve as a ransom. As a substitute plan, Tired Finger should produce the sum as counterfeit money; This plan fails, however, whereupon the forger's sons, Kent and Clint, as well as a Japanese yakuza named Moikako join the group. They manage to track down Espartero's hiding place and get inside. Sam poses as the famous "mastermind", while Moikako can checkmate the bandits with his unusual karate skills. Baby Morgan is set free; the bandits and their boss are captured and locked up. As a reward, the piccolos are promoted to bank employees.

criticism

The lexicon of international films recognized a “gaudy combination of spaghetti westerns and solid karate show with approaches to parody.” C. Cosulich attested that the “Italian-Iberian experts in the implementation of Western formulas did not exhaust the possibilities of oriental acrobatics. “ Christian Keßler says: Of course there is not much to recommend for this work (…). A small ray of hope in the intellectual night of the film is the excellent Coluzzi (...), a very acceptable actress.

Remarks

The film composers Guido and Maurizio de Angelis had themselves listed under a pseudonym.

A little later, director Ricci shot a very similar story with some of the actors in this film in a Robin Hood setting, Two Left Brothers on the Way to a Green Hell , whose German title does not reflect the similarity.
