Fórmula V was a Spanish pop group from Madrid, initially consisting of Francisco Pastor (vocals), Antonio Sevilla (drums), Mariano Sanz (bass), Amador Flores (organ) and Joaquín de la Peña (guitar).

history

The beginnings of Fórmula V date back to 1967 , the year the two bands from Madrid, " Los Rostros " and "Los Jíbaros", merged. Its members had already met at several concerts in the city and called themselves "Los Cambios".

Until 1968 , however, there was no success. That year José Nieto (a former member of " Los Pekenikes ") heard the group play and brought them together with Maryní Callejo , the artistic director who had already triumphed with Los Brincos and Los Relámpagos . Callejo got the five promising young musicians to realize this project under the watchful eye of the Philips brand , not without first changing the band's name to Fórmula V. You yourself - as arranger and producer - and two members of Los Relámpagos ( Pablo Herrero and José Luis Arementeros ), who collaborated, were supposed to shape the promising young musicians and set the standard for Spanish music in the summers of the late 60s and early 70s Years to go This is how the group Fórmula V managed to bring out their first single record with "Mi día de suerte es hoy" and "Vuelve a casa" , the translation of the successful "Come home" by the well-known British group Dave Clark Five . Even in these singles, the group's trademark becomes clear: songs aimed at commercial success in a youthful, casual and memorable style, very much in harmony with the kind of music that was heard at the time.

In 1968 the group celebrated its breakthrough with the title "Tengo tu Amor" . He made Fórmula V the discovery of the year and quickly rose to number one in the charts. From then on, the series of successes swept away : "Cuéntame" and "Cenicienta" (1969), "Jenny Artichoke" ( 1970 ), "Vacaciones de Verano" ( 1972 ), "Eva María" (1973), "Loco, Casi Loco" and "La Fiesta de Blas" ( 1974 ) is no longer available. Their fame spread to South America and also to Cuba, where the group is still very popular today. They also visited the Caribbean island during their reunification tours during the 1990s.

Her clothes also contributed to her distinctiveness: white tuxedos, black pants and beige or blue satin shirts, which expressed both her taste in fashion and her musical style very appropriately. Apart from their musical successes, the members of Fórmula V also starred in several films: " Un, dos, tres, al escondite inglés " (1968) directed by por Iván Zulueta and " A 45 revoluciones por minuto " (1969) by Pedro Lazaga .

In 1975 the five members of the band decided by mutual agreement to end the "Fórmula V" project. They did not appear together again until 1986 after they had not seen each other for eleven years. It was a TVE gala organized by Fernando Navarrete .

Since 1995 they have been giving concerts together with " Los Diablos " and have also recorded various CDs, the first of which - "Fórmula-Diablos" - achieved gold status.
