The Föhrenbach (also known locally as Schweicher Bach in its lower course ) is a brook in the Eifel in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Trier-Saarburg , which flows into the Moselle from the left after an approximately 11 km long, approximately south-southeast run in the town of Schweich .

geography

course

The Föhrenbach rises in the Meulenwald about 1.1 km west of the center of Naurath (Eifel) on the south side of the path of the K 38 to Zemmer at about 353  m above sea level. NHN . It moves the first three quarters of a kilometer eastwards and turns near the outskirts of Naurath on a south to south-west run, now in a valley forest, later in the closed forest of the forest . There it flows in a left curve, at the end of which it runs eastwards after crossing over to the municipality of Föhren and then leaves the Meulenwald.

In Föhren, it changes to the south and runs through the Ried am Föhrenbach nature reserve , a damp lowland, right after the local border . Here he crosses under the Koblenz-Trier railway line and changes to the city of Schweich . From the Andresmühle it flows briefly, past the Leinenhof and the Molitorsmühle to the Loiseleuxmühle, south-south-west between the railway line on the right and the A1 on the left slope, then south again. Now opposite the Kempsmühle, the newer settlement area from Schweich extends to the right bank, later it crosses the city center. Near the river bank it crosses under the B 53 and then flows from the left between Moselle kilometer 178 a little above and the motorway bridge a little below at about 124  m above sea level. NHN from the left into the Moselle .

The mouth of the 11.2 km long Föhrenbach is about 229 meters below its source. Its mean bottom slope is around 11 ‰ and it drains 22.0 km².
