history

The Förde Sparkasse emerged on January 1, 2007 from the merger of the Sparkasse Eckernförde , the Sparkasse Kiel and the Sparkasse Kreis Plön . With effect from July 1, 2016, Förde Sparkasse took over Sparkasse Hohenwestedt .

The history of the predecessor institutes goes back to the year 1796, in which the Spar- und Leihkasse zu Kiel was founded as the first Sparkasse in Schleswig-Holstein by the "Society of Voluntary Poor Friends".

The business area of ​​the Förde Sparkasse covers 2300 square kilometers. A total of around 500,000 people live in the catchment area. The northernmost branch is in Karby and the southernmost is in Wankendorf . The branches in Lütjenburg and Hohn limit the business area to the east and west .

The Förde Sparkasse is committed to the region: In 2012, around 500 support measures in the areas of sport, art, culture, science, the environment and social issues were supported. For this purpose (including donations from the savings bank foundations) over 1.7 million euros were made available.

Foundations

Notation

Contrary to the rules of German spelling, the Förde Sparkasse is not spelled in one word or with a hyphen. The Sparkasse justifies this with the fact that in its logo the words “Förde” and “Sparkasse” are not next to, but below each other, and a hyphen after the word “Förde” is disruptive in this arrangement.
