The five-finger tip ( Italian Punta delle Cinque Dita , Ladin Pizes di Cin Dëic ) is a 2996  m high mountain in the South Tyrolean Dolomites ( Italy ).

Location and surroundings

The five-finger tip is located in the Sassolungo Group in the Dolomites. This borders the South Tyrolean valley Val Gardena on the south side . In the arc of the Langkofel group, north of the mountain - separated by the Langkofelscharte - is the Langkofel and south - separated by the Fünffingerscharte - the Grohmannspitze . Towards the southeast the summit structure drops to the Sella Pass , to the northwest into the Langkofelkar. The municipal boundary between St. Christina and Selva runs right above the summit .

topography

The five-finger tip owes its name to the fact that it is internally divided into several rock towers, which remind the viewer of the fingers of a hand. From north to south one actually distinguishes the thumb , index finger , middle finger (main peak), ring finger and little finger .

Alpinism

The first ascent of the five-finger tip took place in 1890 by Johann Santner and Robert Hans Schmitt .

The approaches to the various climbing routes are made available through the Toni-Demetz-Hütte in the Langkofelscharte, which is connected to the Sella Pass by a cable car, and through the Langkofelhütte in the Langkofelkar.
