Intercession Community Center

The Intercession Church is located at Andreasberger Strasse 13 in Berlin-Britz . It was designed by Wolfgang Pingel.

history

The increase in population and thus the members of church congregations Philipp Melanchthon and village church Britz in the local situation Britz-Nord leading to the desire to start another church. For a new church, part of the parish churchyard of Saints Simeon and Saint Luke was purchased, on which there were no graves . The foundation stone was laid on October 4, 1964, and the topping-out ceremony was held on September 17, 1965 . On March 27, 1966, the community center was inaugurated by Bishop Otto Dibelius . On January 15, 2012, the parishes of Philipp Melanchthon and Intercession merged to form the Evangelical Intercession Melanchthon Church Congregation, which, together with the Galilee parish, forms the parish of Northwest Neukölln in the Evangelical Church District of Neukölln.

Building description

The building complex of Fürbitt- community center consists of three building wings together, the nave with bell tower , the wing with Youth grant and the administration of the church and building with apartment and office of the priest .

The floor plan of the nave, which is covered with a flat roof , is square, that of the bell tower is hexagonal, it has a butterfly roof . The nave was in skeleton construction of reinforced concrete built. The walls of the hall are essentially without windows. Light only falls through the skylights, which are covered by the suspended wooden ceiling , and the vertical window slots on the side of the altar area, the windows of which are decorated with stained glass . The community hall is located on the first floor of the 3-story wing. There is a folding door under the gallery of the church hall . The church hall can be connected to the community hall if required.

organ

The organ with main work , upper work and pedal work comes from Paul Ott . It has 22 registers , approx. 1700 pipes , mechanical action and electrical playing aids . The organ has the following disposition :

Peal

The bell house of the church tower has lamellar-clad openings. In it hangs the ringing of three bronze bells that were cast by the Rincker Bell and Art Foundry in 1966.
