The FV Eppelborn (officially: Football club Eppelborn eV ) is a sports club from Eppelborn in the Saarland district Neunkirchen . The first soccer team took part once in the DFB Cup and twice in the German Amateur Championship . The futsal team won the DFB Futsal Cup in 2007 .

history

The club was founded in 1920 as SV Eppelborn . The DJK Eppelborn followed six years later . The two clubs merged in 1935. The name of this merger is not known. In 1945 the club was founded as FC Fortuna Eppelborn , which took its current name six years later.

Soccer

The footballers of FV Eppelborn reached in 1969 after two ascents in a row the Saar amateur league , where they immediately became runner-up behind VfB Theley . This qualified the Eppelborn for the German amateur football championship in 1970 , where they made it to the semi-finals via SpVgg Bendorf and BSC Brunsbüttel . There they lost the first leg against the amateurs of Eintracht Braunschweig with 0: 3, but were able to win in the second leg with 3: 1 and thus just missed the final. Four years later, the club qualified for the German Cup and beat in the 1974-75 DFB-Pokal , the Sportfreunde Eisbachtal with 2: 4. The end came in the second round after a 1: 4 defeat at Fortuna Düsseldorf .

1977 the Eppelborn secured after a 3-1 playoff victory after extra time over FC St. Wendel, the renewed runner-up. In the German amateur championship in 1977 , the team was eliminated in the first round against FC Bitburg . A year later, the Eppelborn 1978 missed qualification for the newly created Oberliga Südwest . In 1982 it went down to the regional league before being promoted again three years later. In 1986 the team reached the final of the Saarland Cup and lost 4-5 on penalties against Borussia Neunkirchen .

In the 1990s, the Eppelborn team became a top team in the Saarland Association League, and in 1993 they reached their sporting zenith with third place. In 2002 FV Eppelborn moved into the Saarland Cup final again and lost to 1. FC Saarbrücken with 1: 3. In terms of sport, the club has long been a member of the highest Saarland amateur league, which has been known as the Saarland League since 2008 . In 2017, the FV rose to the league as champions .

Futsal

The futsal team won the DFB Futsal Cup in 2007 by beating VfV 06 Hildesheim 6: 4 in the final . This qualified the team for the UEFA Futsal Cup , where the team was eliminated in the first group stage without winning a point. In the following years, the team could no longer qualify for the DFB Futsal Cup. The department was later disbanded.
