The Saarland Amateur Football League 1977/78 was the 27th and final season of the Saarland Amateur League , the predecessor of the Saarland Association League . This league represented the substructure of the 2. Bundesliga until 1978 and was therefore third-class in the overall league hierarchy. After the introduction of the Oberliga Südwest in 1978 as the highest amateur division, this division was renamed “Verbandsliga Saarland” and from that point on was only fourth class.
Closing table
Saarland champion was Borussia Neunkirchen for the third time in a row , who completed the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga South in the third attempt with first place in the southwest group, which entitles them to promotion.
