The 1st amateur league Black Forest-Bodensee 1977/78 was the last season of the 1st amateur league , which was replaced in 1978 by the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg as the new third-highest German division under the 2nd Bundesliga . The SSV Reutlingen 05 won the last championship with nine points ahead of the FV Biberach . Reutlingen qualified for the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , but failed in this case against the South Baden representative SC Freiburg .

After the missed promotion, SSV Reutlingen 05 played third class again in the following season. In addition to Reutlingen, the four clubs that finished in the following places, FV Biberach, FC Tailfingen , FV Ravensburg and VfB Friedrichshafen, qualified for the new league.

The SV Kressbronn , the TSV Tettnang , the SG Aulendorf and the SV Weingarten had to relegate to the newly created national league as the fifth highest league level.

The remaining teams remained in the division, which was continued from 1978 onwards as a fourth-class Verbandsliga Württemberg .

Promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga South

As a master of the first amateur league Schwarzwald-Bodensee of SSV Reutlingen 05 hit in the promotion round to 2. Bundesliga on SC Freiburg , the SSV Ulm 1846 and FV Weinheim . After three wins and three defeats, Reutlingen took third place with 13:10 goals and 6: 6 points behind Ulm and second division promoted SC Freiburg.
