The  Saarland Amateur Football League 1951/52  was the first season of the Saarland Amateur League , the predecessor of the Saarland Association League . This league represented the substructure of the II. Southwest Division until 1963 and was thus third-class in the overall league hierarchy. From the 1974/75 season , the league acted as a substructure for the newly introduced  2nd Bundesliga , with the Saarland champion  ascertaining a promotion to the southern season of the 2nd Bundesliga against the champions of  the Southwest Association  and the Rhineland Association in a promotion round. From the 1978/79 season, the Oberliga Südwest was (re) introduced as the highest amateur division and this division was renamed “Verbandsliga Saarland” and was then fourth class.

The Saarland champions became the Sportfreunde Saarbrücken . The master and runner-up of the Saarland regional league (Sportfreunde 05 Saarbrücken and  SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken ) should be included in the  Oberliga Südwest  . The sports fans renounced and therefore took a place in the II. Division . The table third and fourth ( Viktoria Hühnerfeld and SC Altenkessel ) therefore took part in the promotion round to the II. Division . In the end, both clubs took first place and also rose to the second division. The SV Mittelbexbach had to relegate to the district league after this season. For the following season 1952/53 came the SC Brebach , the SG Erbach , the TuS Wiebelskirchen and the VfB Dillingen as promoters from the district leagues.
