Heinz-Jürgen Henkes (born May 2, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player and now an amateur coach.

Career

player

Even as a child, Heinz-Jürgen Henkes, known as “Jupp”, played for Borussia Neunkirchen . In 1968, after Neunkircher's relegation from the Bundesliga, he became a contract player . Within a short period of time, the tech-savvy midfielder developed into one of the top performers of the then second division team. In 1971 he won the championship of the Regionalliga Südwest with Neunkirchen . However, he then failed with Borussia in the promotion round to the Bundesliga . Henkes was used in all eight games, including a 1-0 win against 1. FC Nürnberg in front of over 30,000 spectators in Neunkirchen's Ellenfeldstadion (1 goal). Shortly afterwards, Henkes was able to celebrate at least one personal rise: at the instigation of the local trainer Dietrich Weise , he moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga. In the first year he made 16 games (2 goals) in the league and two substitutions (1 goal) in the DFB Cup , in which Kaiserslautern advanced to the finals in the 1971/72 season. When Weise hardly considered him the following year, Henkes decided to return to Neunkirchen. With Borussia he was again champion of the Regionalliga in 1974, but again missed promotion to the Bundesliga. For the Neunkircher, Henkes played a total of 95 games (31 goals) in the Regionalliga, plus 16 games (5 goals) in the promotion round. Henkes remained loyal to Neunkirchen until the 1980s and witnessed the decline of the traditional club at close quarters. In 1975 Borussia rose from the 2nd Bundesliga South and thus for the first time in the third division. After three championships in the Saar amateur league , in which Henkes played a significant part, the return to the lower house of the Bundesliga was successful in 1978, which only turned into a one-year guest appearance. This was followed by winning the title in the Oberliga Südwest and relegated from the second division in 1981 . If a supposedly harmless inner ligament injury had not put him out of action for six months in the 1974/75 season, there would have been a few more of the 74 appearances (13 goals) that Henkes was able to record as a player in the second division added.

Trainer

Henkes began his second career as a player- coach for Borussia Neunkirchen's second team. Later he was in charge of FV Eppelborn , FC Palatia Limbach, SC Friedrichsthal , Türkiyem Sulzbach and Ay Yildiz Völklingen before he returned to Neunkirchen. In April 2007, Henkes was temporarily transferred to the first team as coach. He remained undefeated in eight games in the Oberliga Südwest, but then moved back into the second tier. After he was promoted to the Saarland League with Borussia Neunkirchen II in 2008, Henkes was finally promoted on November 8, 2009. As the head coach of his home club, however, Henkes was only allowed to prove himself for five game days (one win, four defeats). In mid-December 2009, he was replaced by former Bundesliga player Kurt Knoll . Since the 2010/11 season, Henkes has been training the club division DJK Ballweiler-Wecklingen.
