Fabian Thylmann (born June 5, 1978 in Düsseldorf ) is a German entrepreneur active in several areas. He became known through his former dominance in the porn industry , today Thylmann is an investor in various industries.

Career

Thylmann is the original programmer of the affiliate tracking software NATS. After selling his shares in the company he co-founded in 2006, he bought the PrivatAmateure website. He later bought other porn websites such as Mydirtyhobby , the camera websites Webcams.com and XTube, and the paid networks Brazzers.com and Mofos for about $ 140 million .

Since 2011 he has been the managing director and sole shareholder of the Luxembourg holding Manwin , which he founded , the operator of Youporn and other websites he has bought. Manwin also operates the online marketing and television channels of Playboy TV under license from Playboy . In September 2012 Manwin took over another of their biggest competitors with Reality Kings . Thylmann and Digital Playground belonged to "one of the largest porn film studios in the world". Within five years he achieved dominance in the industry. The expansion was funded by a $ 362 million loan apparently brokered by two former Goldman Sachs bankers.

On October 4, 2012, Thylmann obtained an injunction against the reporting of the newspaper Die Welt at the Düsseldorf Regional Court, which was completely overturned on December 19, 2012 by the Düsseldorf Regional Court. With an injunction, Thylmann took action against the magazine Der Spiegel because of the publication of a photo showing him at a lecture at the Internext Expo.

In December 2012, tax investigators searched Thylmann's villa near Brussels and Manwin's offices in Hamburg. Thylmann was arrested at the instigation of the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgium on suspicion of tax evasion and then extradited to Germany. After a short pre-trial detention, he was released on December 21, 2012 on payment of a double-digit million bail . His passport was withheld.

In October 2013 it was reported that Thylmann had sold its Manwin shares to managers from within the company , who then merged Manwin with RedTube and renamed it Mindgeek . In April 2015, after two years of investigations, the Cologne public prosecutor brought charges of tax evasion against Thylmann. The proceedings were discontinued in November 2016 in return for a payment of 5 million euros. Previously, Thylmann had already paid 26.25 million euros plus interest after an agreement with the tax authorities. A separate proceeding for possibly evaded income tax in the amount of almost 650,000 euros was still pending before the Aachen Regional Court.

In December 2016, Thylmann was sentenced to one year and four months imprisonment on probation at the Aachen regional court for tax evasion.

Today he owns the Bootshaus Club and a restaurant in Cologne . Thylmann is also the operator of the Coworking & FabLab SN-Cube in Brussels , owner of the yacht management company Adriatic Sailing and investor in a large number of different companies. It became known that in 2017 he invested in Cannamedical Pharma GmbH (Cologne), which is active in the medical cannabis sector.
