Fahrenheit 212 is a German rock band from Fürstenwalde / Spree in Brandenburg .
Band history
The band was founded in 1992 by Mirko Kerber, Patrick Lyhs and Carsten F. Hiller. The name of the band refers to the 212 ° F (100 ° C ) temperature at which water boils. After about two years, Kay Gerling Bassmann and Jean-Ray Kokoschko joined them. On March 13, 1995, their debut album Der Hexer appeared on Bacillus, a sub-label of Bellaphon . The follow-up Crusade of Feelings appeared on September 30, 1996 .
In 2007, after a ten-year break, the third album Neues vom Hexer was released . This was a double album , with the second CD containing instrumental versions and two remixes. Mirko Kerber left the band in spring 2008 for personal reasons. Oliver Kranz was the successor on the microphone. 2007 and 2008 appeared on the Motorcycle Jamboree with Girlschool , Rose Tattoo , BossHoss and Knorkator, among others . In 2009 she took part in the sound selection project of the Kreuzberger Musikalische Aktion eV (KMA) initiative. The accompanying sampler was supposed to take a hit against disaffection with politics and against the right in the super election year 2009 .
On March 18, 2016 the concept album Vaka Teatea ( ´waka te: a te: a ) was released on Easter Island . The band got the idea during a performance on Easter Island with local folklore musicians HeReHaRa and the subsequent tour in Chile . The album was released as a digipak with an attached booklet via recordJet distributed by Soulfood . The mastering was done by Harris Johns while the production was done by guitarist Patrick Lyhs. The album title is an expression in Rapanui and means "white ship".
In the same year Fahrenheit 212 recorded at the 34th German Rock & Pop Prize in the Siegerlandhalle in Siegen . They achieved second place in the categories “Best Hard Rock Band 2016 Live” and for “Best Hard Rock Album 2016”, and they also won the category for “Best Booklet and Inlay Card 2016”. Their five-minute short appearance, where they played the title song by Vaka Teatea , took place together with the samba kids from Berlin.
A documentary about the musicians' trip to Easter Island is currently in pre-production. The 90-minute long documentary film, which bears the working title 100 ° on Rapa Nui , is directed by Martin Liscke .
Music genre
Fahrenheit 212 play hard rock on the border to metal and more recent German rock . What is special are her exclusively German texts, which are politically and socially critical. These are presented angrily. Oliver Kranz, who replaced the original singer in 2008, originally came from southern rock and grunge , his voice is also smoky and rough, but a little clearer than that of his predecessor. The Böhsen Onkelz and Oomph! called.
