Falcon watch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Falke-Uhr is used to describe the grandfather clocks in public spaces in Hanover , for which Adolf Falke delivered the futuristic type design after an architectural competition in 1926 . Of the originally around twenty copies that the city of Hanover had put up in streets and squares, nine have survived today, all of which are listed . The tenth clock on Otto-Brenner-Str. and the corner of Stiftstraße was dismantled at the end of July 2012 due to a traffic accident and after the conversion of the previous roundabout into a traffic junction in 2013, it could not be rebuilt at its original location. A new location has not yet been determined by the city of Hanover, and the base of the clock needs a restoration compatible with listed buildings due to the accident.

On many Falke clocks there is an engraving on the base of the clock as the manufacturer's indication: " Metallkunst Herrenhausen ".
