The uninhabited Greek island of Falkonera ( Greek Φαλκονέρα ( f. Sg. )) Less often also Gerakunia (Γερακούνια) with an area of 1.29 km² belongs administratively to the municipality of Spetses in the Attic regional district islands .

Falkonera is located in the Myrtoic Sea . The closest islands are Andimilos 30 km east, Velopoula 38 km northwest and Milos 42 km east. Spetses is 78 km northwest and the Peloponnese 70 km west.
The shipping route from Piraeus to Crete runs in the immediate vicinity of the island. On December 8, 1966, the sinking of the Heraklion occurred between Falkonera and Andimilos, in which 241 people lost their lives.

The landscape of the rocky island of volcanic origin is determined not only by hard foliage vegetation but also by Phrygana with gorse and thyme as well as the dominant thorny Bibernelle ( Sarcopoterium spinosum ).

In addition to the Aegean bare fingers ( Mesodactylus kotschyi ), there is the subspecies Podarcis milensis gerakuniae of the Milos wall lizard on Falkonera .
Every year, Eleonora's falcons visit Falkonera as a breeding area.

Along with other uninhabited islets forms Velopoula in the southern Aegean, the Natura 2000 area GR 4210011 Vrachonisia Egeou: Velopoula, Falkonera, Ananes, Christiana, Paxia, Fteno, Makra, Astakidonisia, Syrna Gyro Nisia (Βραχονήσια Νοτίου Αιγαίου: Βελοπούλα, Φαλκονέρα, Ανάνες, Χριστιανά, Παχειά, Φτενό, Μακρά, Αστακιδονήσια, Σύρνα-Γύρω νησιά) and is also classified as an Important Bird Area GR128 Falkonera Islet .
