Fall Be Kind is an EP from Animal Collective . It was released on November 23, 2009 as an MP3 and WAV download. The EP was released worldwide as CD and 12 "vinyl on December 14th and December 15th, 2009. Some record stores in Australia and New Zealand started selling the record over a week in advance due to the band's tour there.

On November 18, 2009, Domino Records accidentally shipped pre-ordered Fall Be Kind CDs to customers prior to their actual release date. This led to a complete leak of the album on the internet.

History of origin

Fall Be Kind includes newer live concert favorites, namely "Graze" and "What Would I Want? Sky". The latter song contains the very first legal Grateful Dead sample and was the second song in the history of the music webzine Pitchfork Media to receive the perfect rating "10.0 / 10".

The album was recorded in February 2008 by Ben Allen at the Sweet Tea Recording Studio in Oxford, Mississippi , where the band also recorded the previous album Merriweather Post Pavilion . In August 2009 the band recorded the rest of the tracks at Mission Sound in Brooklyn .

reception

"Fall Be Kind" received a very positive response from the press. Lewis P. of "Sputnikmusic" wrote: "[The EP] had the impossible task of following one of the most hyped albums of the decade and yet the EP hardly breaks a sweat." P. gave the record the highest rating.

At Plattentests.de the critic Tobias Hinrichs gave the EP 7/10 points and writes:

“That is why“ Fall be kind ”also honors that Animal Collective treat themselves to this great start in order to push around a little afterwards. Various other solutions would have been conceivable, but this is the only way for "Fall be kind" to develop an honesty that immediately jumps as a sympathy bonus through the entire half hour. With that, Animal Collective are completely and exclusively with themselves through another very small but far-reaching trick. Turn off the devices, drive the neuters out of the studio, finally release Scooby Doo into a well-deserved swoon. And - as Tare announced - take a break first. Whoever believes it ... "
