Location of Farara in Niger

Farara is a hamlet in the rural community of Olléléwa in Niger .

The hamlet is located in the Damergou countryside , about eight kilometers northeast of the village of Olléléwa, the capital of the rural municipality of the same name, which belongs to the Tanout department in the Zinder region. One of the other larger villages in the vicinity of Farara is Sabon Kafi in the northeast, around twelve kilometers away .

The German explorer Heinrich Barth , who in 1851 traveled to Damergou, was Farara as one of the next Dan Kamsa , koulan Karki , Ollelewa and Taghelel politically significant settlements in Damergou. Mákita (also called Imkiten), who had played an important role in the Sultanate of Aïr at the time of the absence of a sultan, lived here. Barth also described the "sizeable pool" that is located below the hamlet on a hill and was already used to supply water to the surrounding villages.

At the 2012 census, Farara had 133 residents who lived in 18 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 61 in 11 households.
