Dan Kamsa (also: Dankamsa ) is a village in the municipality of Tanout in Niger .

The village, led by a traditional chief (chef traditionnel) , is located in the Damergou countryside , about 28 kilometers southwest of the city center of Tanout, the capital of the Tanout department in the Zinder region . The larger villages in the vicinity of Dan Kamsa include Guidjigaoua around 11 kilometers away in the west, Sabon Kafi around 11 kilometers away in the southwest and Koulan Karki around 12 kilometers away in the southeast.

The place name comes from the Hausa language and refers to the founder of the village called Kamsa , using the prefix Dan , which indicates paternity . The German explorer Heinrich Barth , who in 1851 traveled to Damergou mentioned "Dankámssa (actually Dan Kámssa), the residence of an influential man named U'mma", as one of the next Farara , koulan Karki , Ollelewa and Taghelel politically significant settlements in Damergou .

At the 2012 census, Dan Kamsa had 692 residents who lived in 111 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 393 in 77 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 900 in 192 households.

For the purpose of supplying water to Dan Kamsa and the surrounding villages, a 700 meter deep borehole and a water reservoir were completed in the town around 2012.
